Archbishop Ieronymos Presides At Divine Liturgy Concelebration at Holy Trinity Cathedral

Description: The Primate of the Church of Greece presided over the Liturgy and His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America concelebrated along with the two hierarchs from Greece who accompany His Beatitude, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinia, and Bishop Gavriel of Diavleia and clergy from the Archdiocese of Athens and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The Divine Liturgy was broadcast live by satellite through various outlets around the world, in Greece, the United States, Canada, Australia and in some European countries.

Description: Archbishop Demetrios of America conferred the honorary title to the Primate of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece following the citation by the President of Hellenic College Holy Cross, Rev. Fr. Nicholas Triantafilou. In the citation, Fr. Triantafilou portrayed His Beatitude as a Hierarch, a Shepherd and a Leader and in recognition of his exceptional intellectual, pastoral and ecclesiastical achievements in general asked the recipient for “the singular privilege of honoring you and joining your name with that of our sacred institution.”

Description: His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew declared open this morning the Seminar on Religious Freedom Today celebrating the 1700th anniversary of the Emperor Constantine’s Edict of Milan. The Seminar, organized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in cooperation with the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE), is being held in Istanbul (17-18 May) with the participation of international speakers and delegations representing the Orthodox Churches and the Catholic Church in the European continent. The seminar will explore the historical, legal and political aspects of religious freedom in Europe and throughout the world.

Archbishop Ieronymos Makes Emotional Visit and Lays Wreath at the Site of the Boston Marathon Terrorist Attack

Description: Almost exactly one month after the Boston Marathon terrorist attack, His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece visited the site of the attack at Boylston Street, where an ad hoc memorial has been created by the thousands of visitors. His Beatitude was accompanied by Archbishop Demetrios of America, Metropolitan Methodios of Boston and the other members of his entourage from Greece.
