St. George 35th Annual Greek Festival

2008 St. George Annual Festival
May 16th (11am -11.30pm), May 17th (11am -1pm)
May 18th (12 noon - 8pm)

Our 35nd Annual Festival will be held on May 16th, 17th and 18th, 2008. As always, this is the first weekend after Mother's Day. We have a number of meetings since the beginning of the year. We will be meeting every Tuesday in March and April, with the exception of Holy Tuesday.

We welcome all parishioners who are interested in supporting this year's festival to attend the meetings. This year we need to help to fill a number of outstanding department positions. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact the chairperson, John Lyssikatos at (908) 359-2955. No help will ever be turned away. We are always open to suggestions and ideas. Please do not hesitate to share them with us. We have also established an e-mail address for any questions you may have. Please direct them to festival2005@patmedia.net.

As always, we hope to make a few changes with this year's festival, in an attempt to better serve our quest and more importantly to improve the working conditions during the actual festival. Last year, we were able to bring in bigger tents for the outside taverna. This year, our goal is to have the landscaping wall completed in time for the festival. This will increase our capacity and also improve the service outside. In addition, we will also move departments to the outside in an effort to increase exposure and sales.

We will have a calendar, outlining all the cooking dates for the kitchen and the bakery. We will be baking and cooking in March, April and May. As always, we again are seeking out everyone's help. The more people who get involved, the easier the activities and the more fun we will have. We can't depend on the same people year in and year out.

The fesitval is a vital fundraiser for our church. Please show your stewardship by helping at this year's festival. It only takes a few hours a day of everyone's help in order to make a difference. This is a great event to get involved and to meet your fellow church members. We will have festival sign-ups after church on Sunday's in March and April.
