On behalf of the St. George Greek Orthodox Festival Committee,
we would like to thank all of the people who contributed their time and
financial support to the 30th Annual Festival.
The success of this church event is a reflection of the
dedication and team work this community strives for to support the church
and to share the Greek culture, traditions, hospitality and religion,
which we are so proud of, with our neighbors. Despite the challenging
weather we had on Friday and Saturday, this year's Festival provided us
our highest cash sales during our 30-year history. A final financial report
will be provided during our semi-annual general assembly meeting.
This year we saw a number of significant changes which
helped our cause. The inside and outside bar was re-designed to help increase
the service and sales. We also re-vitalized the Cultural Exhibit, which
many people took the time to visit. We introduced frozen loaf trays of
certain foods for our guests to take home and enjoy. We saw a positive
response with this new approach. Finally, we made changes to our Gyro
stand outside by adding more concrete space. A special thank you to Themi
Fiotakis, for his time and effort, in completing this project.
I would like to thank everyone who provided a strong effort
and volunteered their time and services during the festival. This is an
opportunity for our members to show their stewardship towards the church.
I can not thank everyone individually in this letter, but I would like
to take the time to acknowledge all the different departments that worked
hard for three days: Admissions, Bar, Dining Room, Decorations, Kitchen/Salad
Prep/Tiropetes, Gyros, Souvlakia, Gift Shop, Raffle, Bakery/Loukoumades,
Church Tours, Cashiers/Take-Out, Treasury, T-Shirts, Treasury, Youth Activities
and the Cultural Center.
As we move forward with each festival, we tend to have
fewer people helping. This issue will continue to be addressed. We only
ask for a few hours from each of you. This will make a significant difference
in the future. We have seen the continued support of our older parishioners
and most recently our G.OY.A. members. I again will continue to challenge
the 20 and 30 year olds of our parish to become more active with our festival
and other church related activities. You are the future of our church.
There is significant work to be done prior to and after the festival.
NO HELP WILL EVER BE TURNED AWAY!
A post-festival meeting will be held on Tuesday, June
3rd. The meeting will consist of reports from the various departments
and a “think tank” discussion seeking improvements for future festivals.
Every year we learn from our experiences in an effort to improve our festival.
Once again, on behalf of the Festival Committee, we would
like to thank everyone for their support during this year's festival and
making this a successful event.
God Bless,
