You know about us, you see on Sundays (and other
days of the week), you hear us mentioned during the sermons and
you are often asked to follow our directions during the busy Holy
Day services. Do you really know who we are? Are you wondering how
we got our positions?
Everyone knows that most organizations are run by
a group of people who make decisions that determine how the organization
will run. The Greek Orthodox Community of New Brunswick - St. George,
now in Piscataway, NJ, is a nonprofit incorporated religious community
founded in New Brunswick on 15 October 1916. It was established
and has flourished for 91 years by the sheer determination of the
Hellenic Spirit and the Greek Orthodox Christian faith that the
original members possessed and the present members, including many
fourth- and fifth-generation descendants of the founding families,
always carry with them. Our community was incorporated in the State
of New Jersey on 19 July 1917. We have a Community Constitution
adopted on 6 April 1924 that requires us to elect a Board of Trustees
to determine our direction towards our goals, and to administer
and operate all Community functions.
Our overall guidance comes from our Community Constitution
for the proper operation of our Community according to the relevant
statutes and laws of the State of New Jersey. For all ecclesiastical
functions, we have supported and received support from the Greek
Orthodox Archdiocese of America that we helped to found as a charter
member about sixty to eighty years ago. For Church matters, we work
closely with the priest, Father Alexander Kile. Most important of
all, we work for you and with you, the members of our Greek Orthodox
Community of New Brunswick - St. George to understand your needs
and to further the work of our historic and dynamic Community.

There are 15 members of the St. George Board of
Trustees.
The community elects either 7 or 8 new members of the Board each
year during the winter General Assembly meeting held in January.
Candidate are placed in nomination and, if elected, each trustee
serves a two-year term.

of new members, and 3) fund-raising to support the many projects
and services of our Community. We are always looking for volunteers
to assist our efforts and if you would like to volunteer, let a
Trustee know you are willing to work.
The Board of Trustees is here to serve you and your
Community. If you have questions about anything related to our Community
policies and the Trustee's work, please feel free to ask one of
us.
